The National Audit Office (NAO) has published a new report criticising the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) over several failed installations under the scheme.
In response, National Energy Action Chief Executive Adam Scorer says, ‘The urgent priority for government should be to ensure faults are rectified and households have the warm, safe and healthy homes they were promised. When installed correctly, insulation can provide those benefits.
‘People should have peace of mind that work in their homes is completed to a high standard, and where it is not, mistakes are corrected quickly at no cost to them.
‘Government needs to tackle these failures because good quality, effective insulation remains vital to tackling fuel poverty.
‘The majority of insulation installed in Great Britain has been loft and cavity wall insulation and most people’s experiences of these have been positive.’
